The enviroment - our home

Global warming is one of the biggest problems destroying our planet. Still people seem to be more concerned with the wars, elections etc. They believe that the consequences of global warming have all been beneficial and that South Africa is now greener and wetter than ever. The claims are without foundation and that is why the South African government has ignored these predictions. These alarmist reports are generated, by the environmental pressure groups, in order to generate research funding.

We should accept it as a reality and be ready and prepared for the worst. The signs of climate changes are already raising reasons for concern because temperatures are rising to unprecedented levels. The sea levels are rising from the melting ice in the Polar Regions. The increase in the sea level will cause considerable destruction trough out South Africa’s coastal areas.

That is one of the reasons why we need to save our enviroment in the best way we can.

The elephant in the room

There is a silence in the dog’s bark

A second bark that does not appear today

A silence that brings a tear to the day

A family friend that passed away

When the dog barks he brings a memory

The heartache that no words can heal

With tears wiped away by the elephant in the room

There stays a silence that cannot be ignore to feel

Cats are pink and all thoughts are subversive

Thoughts are restricted to knowledge of the mind. Only intelligent minds thoughts are subversive.

People are unique human beings whom each have unique and different morals, backgrounds, beliefs, lifestyles, intelligence, and thoughts. Yes, thoughts are unique to an individual. It is influenced by lifestyle, age, time etc. Thoughts can change from as much as milliseconds apart. That makes it clearly unpredictable, unique and personal to every persons mind.

The mind is always at work, further more it has its own imagination, opinion, instinct, beliefs and reasoning. In addition the mind is not restricted by realities of the world or general principles.

However, a person who can truly be defined as having a master mind will be a true thinker. A true thinker will actually restrict its mind to the study and reasoning of theories and realities of things which makes him well informed, quick at understanding and gives an advantage of a mental ability that is different then the rest of the world.  This is when the mind is at work to the best of its ability and makes a Wiseman out of any ordinary man, and because it is possible to control your mind and thoughts it makes it possible for any person to consider being wise. Therefore all thoughts can be subversive.

When you are considerd as wise you have a will and a head strong perception of things. Thoughts that you question can be a threat to you and must be crushed or overthrown with your own morals, opinion, instinct, beliefs, reasoning and intelligence. Therefore intelligent people who do not fall into the beliefs of the world but of his own individual personality will always think subversive thoughts.

In conclusion, thoughts can be controlled by the mind and the mind is restricted to intelligence or knowledge. When you are told something and you just believe that it is true without thinking more in-depth about it, it is because you don’t have any knowledge of the subject and will just expect that it is true. Like for example you won’t believe when someone tells you cats are pink, because you know better then that.

The fight against racism in this country

I am a South African, brought in to this world in 1988. My heart and soul lies within this country where I have lived for so long with the innocence, of a child. Unaware of crime, rape and political issues, I was lucky, for if I knew then, what I know now, I would have leaked depression and sadness and see no purpose to this life.

I am ashamed to say I live in Cape Town, so called the heart of South Africa. In school I was taught about Distrix six and how the people lived until everything was taken away from them. During my studies in Cape Town I lived in Skyways, formally known as the Bloemhof flats, home to hundreds of colored people, till the day came when they were chased away by the white people.

So much hate in this country for what our fore fathers did and no matter how much we apologise we could never change the way things turned out to be, or can we? Yes. I am not innocent in the case of apartheid, even though my hands are clean, I was still razed, stood and lived by the perceptions of racism.

My best friends are all white, I chose them that way. Not because of the color of their skin but according to our backgrounds, our level of interests, intellect and status.

‘We are all the same’ is what we are told from a young age. But yet we are so far apart in everyway. We will always have different backgrounds, different religions and cultural upbringing. We are different people, not categorized by the colors of our skin but rather the things forming our personalities, behaviors and beliefs.

Today I will make an oath that I will never see myself higher then any other racial group. I am equal to each person formed by the hands of my God. Send to the world to live out a purpose and to die an angel for He is higher then all of us and for all the harm I or any of my fore fathers may have purposely caused to another race, I ask His forgiveness.

I believe every South African from all races should have a public forgiveness day where they can swear this oath, to put the past behind them and do anything in their power to turn this current situation around. Where we can talk openly about the days of apartheid and forgive our fore fathers for each and every thing they have done. Not only the white people but black - and colored people as well.  Where we host events to celebrate the end of apartheid and become one big South African family.

I want the war to come to and end and I want us all to live in harmony together. What I have done to stop racism is small gestures but could make a big difference in someone’s life. I show respect to those who deserve it, let a colored person stand in front of me in a long queue at home affairs, give them a job and money when they are begging on the street, support them and try to make their lives easier. I embrace inter-racial marriages, child adoptions, residences, come what ever may, I will never judge you.

To be honest all comes down to me, treating other races fairly like I would treat someone from my own race. Not categorizing people by the color of their skin but rather according to there current situation, respectable manners, behavior, honesty, reliability, friendliness, level of intellect etc. for that is what makes a person unique and that is what I will love each and every person for.

How do you control your anger?

According to the dictionary, anger is a strong emotion excited by a real or supposed injury. Other words of explaining the feeling is annoyance, displeasure, ill temper, rage or resentment.

I for one tend to treat anger as a small case of depression, with a tendency to eat ‘good mood’ food. In my case this will basically be anything in the line of chocolates, nuts and fast food that I would normally cut out of my diet.

Luckily for me, I truly don’t get angry very often. Seeing that the first time I experienced the feeling of anger was in standard 7 when one of my best friends disappointed me with the wrongful decisions she made, hearting me in the process. I was very sad at the beginning, not eating at all, and later lead to being angry at her, where I began healing myself emotionally through the use of food.

I feel that we often make the mistake of misinterpreting our feeling of disappointment, heartache and sadness with anger.

All humans do get angry at some stage in there lives, some even more then others, but it is how we deal with our anger and learn to control it that makes us different from the rest.

Some people will react by driving irresponsible losing respect for themselves and everyone around them, consuming large amounts of alcohol, swear and use aggression to make them feel better.

I tend to keep my feelings to myself, not let it affects my relationship with others and only confide in close relatives to talk about it and get advice in handling the situation.

I will ignore the person, I am angry at, until they come and apologize to me. I easily forgive and will make an extra effort in fixing the relationship as soon as everything is talked out.

No one is perfect and I believe how you manage your anger has a lot to do with your upbringing, your age and gender, everything has little impact and can influence the way we think and react to different situations.

As we grow older we gain life experience. Experience of dealing with different situations, helping us develop, improve and learn to handle things in a better way just as long as we are willing to except our mistakes and try to fix things, striving to constantly improve ourselves as humans to become the best that we could be.

The drive for motivation - what motivates me

The drive of motivation is a key element to achieve success. How often have you set a goal for yourself and find yourself not even crossing the starting line. A good example we all can relate to is when you set out a goal to start exercising and a few days later you find yourself making excuses to no one other than yourself.  This is where motivation is a mental game of persuading the mind and heart, to balance the goal ahead. The good thing is that this lack of motivation does not have to get in your way of achieving your goals, as I will now give you a tip that has worked for me, to get out and live your dreams.

Motivation can come naturally as it mostly does when we do what we love and work toward something we so badly want with both our heart and mind. But in cases such as my example above, to live healthy, be active or lose weight we sometimes wish we could just snap our fingers and it will all be done.

Whether it is a short term or long term goal it does take time and most importantly it requires a lot of effort from yourself. Once you have realised there is no easy one day miracles, you are halfway there.

The next step is to find the balance of your drive, we all have felt motivated before, even if only for a moment – maybe that moment was when you said to yourself you’ll start jogging the next day and set your alarm to get up an hour earlier.

Now go and analyse your state of mind during that specific moment of feeling motivated. Analyse the feeling, the thought and even the body language that your drive has brought over you. Then except those negative thoughts that is already starting to make excuses for you. Those thoughts the next morning when you are woken by an early alarm and you suddenly forgot the need for going jogging when you allow all excuses to persuade you to stay in bed.

Why except the negative thoughts around your goal you might ask? Well this is the key to motivating yourself. If your mind knows its thoughts and excuses, the mind can prepare your feelings, thoughts and body language to turn all your negative thoughts around. How? You hold the power to control your mind and by preparing the mind with answers to each excuse up front, you obtain a balance of full control in your heart and mind.

So was it because you are not a morning person, you are tired from too little sleep, it is cold outside…the excuses can go on forever. Analyse these negative thoughts down to the bone – if you are not a morning person why not jog in the evenings and then analyse the excuses around that. You are tired, try going to be earlier and except that it will take a bit of an extra effort to get use to the new hours- take one day at a time. Is it cold outside, then jog in your warmest jacket and beanie until you have proven that the cold is only an excuse and not life threatening or do indoor exercises instead.

This list can go on forever but it is really all about braking your feeling of motivation down into smaller sections – to put you in a position to control the smaller sections and in this way motivate yourself even during the toughest times and goals. This example can be applied to all aspects of life, as soon as you can accept the power lies within yourself.

Every day is a good day

So often our busy days get even busier and we tend to overlook each days little miracles.
Yes you know the little miracles when you have to wake up at 6:00 in the morning to get ready for work - you open your eyes and you can see!
When you stand in front of the mirror and try to pull in your tummy, you know you are wealthy enough to eat.
When you get in a fight with a friend you know you are blessed to have someone special in your life.
When you think it has been the worst day ever you know you were blessed with another day to live!
